This photo was taken in 1994 and shows the "Pye Field" at Selsey. The Pye Field is situated to the North of the village on the East side of the road in. The photo is taken from the South East corner. The houses in the background are the "Sunshine Houses" on the Chichester Road situated on the right hand side as you drive in to Selsey. Got that, I will be asking questions later!
23/6/08 This is a photo taken from just north of the middle of the Pye Field looking more or less north west. It shows one of the new buildings on the industrial estate and some of the new houses on the residential development
This photo is taken from the same place and looking more west. The road running across the middle of the photo is a new road running from the Chichester Road (Adjacent to the Selsey Wave) and connecting to Manor Road
This shot is taken from the South West corner of the Pye Field looking towards the new Selsey Centre (north east) and just beyond to the industrial estate
This shot is taken from the North East corner of the Pye Field looking west. One of the big industrial buildings shows on the left of the photo. All the houses are new. The Chichester Road and the Selsey Wave are just to the right of the last house on the right
Panning further to the South and some unoccupied industrial buildings. The situation of Selsey at the end of a 9 mile cul-de-sac is helping to make the sale of industrial units a problem for the developer. White Elephants and "we told you" so spring to mind, however, time may prove some of us wrong.
This is where the old Trees Hotel used to be situated. It was demolished probably 30 years a go and these flats built in its place.
Selsey High Street with Wisemans shop showing. The Wiseman family have been running this shop for years and John Wiseman is the current owner. John is due to retire in a few years and I do not think any of his family are interested in carrying on with the business. I may be wrong and I am sure someone will put me right.
Just a quick "hello" to Mel and Leslie down on holiday from Lancashire.
